Lake Aid works with charity Alfa3A to help local families in need

by Felicity Fallon

In response to the ongoing Covid situation that is causing so much hardship to low income and vulnerable families, Lake Aid recently wrote to 10 charity partners in Annecy, asking ‘How can we help?’.

One of the charities that got back to us was Alfa3A. This organisation supports around 90 vulnerable families (200 children) living in temporary accommodation in and around Annecy. The families are mainly from Eastern Europe, some from the Rom community. Although most of the parents can work legally, this is difficult given the current Covid situation. The children are growing up in very precarious situations. Some go to school, some don’t.

Many thanks to Lake Aider Britta Meigney for volunteering to liaise with Benjamin Poquet from Alfa3A. Thanks to her help, and our supporters’ generous donations, Britta was able to deliver around 200 euros worth of games, school supplies and hygiene products for Alfa3A to distribute to local families in need.

Many thanks also to Lake Aider Hajni Nouailly, for preparing a Baby Box for a young couple Alfa3A is helping. Thanks to Lake Aid, this baby boy will start his life with a set of warm, clean clothes and some basic hygiene products. One less thing for the new parents to worry about!
