Fifth annual Tournette ascent raises over 1700 euros to support Lake Aid projects

On the first Sunday in September, an excited group of Lake Aiders gathered at 7am at Talloires beach. Their goal: to reach the summit of La Tournette – 2,351meters above.

While a brave few run to the top, the majority of Lake Aiders hike up. Many are happy just to get to the halfway point, at Chalet de l’Aulp. As the final 15 minutes of the ascension are quite technical, involving handrails and a bit of scrambling, not everyone makes it to the summit. But it doesn’t matter, as the views are spectacular all the way up and the atmosphere is unfailingly friendly and supportive however far you get. People who don’t know each other at the beginning, are usually firm friends by the end.

Thanks to generous sponsorship from Globber and Aon, our beautiful blue t-shirts were fully paid for this year, which meant that every cent donated by Team Lake Aid went directly to support projects.  Well done to Talloires Club des Sports for organising this wonderful event each year, and thank you for being so open to Lake Aid’s fundraising efforts.
