Zeinab lives at the Red Cross reception center in Thônes with her daughter and granddaughter.
Her smile warms the hearts of those who meet her. In 1915, due to the war, Zeinab’s
Kurdish grandparents fled Turkey for Georgia. Zeinab was born there in 1941.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Zeinab lost all her savings and despite working in a factory for 45 years, her pension was insufficient to support her. So she left Georgia at the age of 62 to live in Ukraine with one of her daughters.
In 2022, due to the war, she was forced to flee Ukraine with her family.
